I would like to "backup" one of my dvd's from my collection "incase" something happens to it... what software do i use to go about this? i have nero, alcohol 120 but they both give me the "copywrited" bs thing.

Have you tried copying the entire DVD to an external Hardrive?

Try DVD Decrypter I use it to back-up all my DVD collection.
I use this coupled with dual layer blanks to create exact copies with nothing left out.

I'm using Windows Vista now and I noticed that I when I backup DVD's, it will do so easily without any kind of warning.
However it stops backing up the Windows Vista OS (only on DVD) because it stops backing up a particular file on the DVD.
So I'm trying to figure that one out.

lol thats because its sending your info to hq and if it gave you the option to back out theyd lose the trial

@Eddie ~ how are you liking the Vista os? I am contemplating upgradeing to Ultimate but everything I hear/read/research says to wait.
You are the only one I know (evil twin) that has any experience at all.
Maybe you will have to have enother Cpu tip of the day regarding Vista os when you get all the bugs worked out?!?

I'm pretty good with the Vista now and I recommend that you go for it.
You can wait to see if they do anything new with it, but I imagine it will be in the form of Service Packs.
My only complaint thus far is no Hardware monitoring and Coolbits type of regedit for the Nvidia overclock.
But you see everything is nice and worked out in Vista so everything seems Overclocked.
My opinion thus far is that you really need to have the fastest hardware you can get and Vista is to XP as it was to 2000/98.

You have to select the right write and then read type from the file menu. I believe it is .iso format. It copies the entire disk to your HD encyption free and has a .mds file that you click on when you switch to write mode. I know I had to change this setting as the one I use is not the default.
I am at work atm but I will check which format I use for you.
PM me to remind me if this thread dies...

Ok I am at home and you have to select mod-ISO-Read (then Write) from the top menu bar.
Read it first then writte to a DVD-DL blank!

Yes it does so you will have to open the DVD in Windows Media Player and open the sidebar to the right and check the properties of each episode of the DVD.
Calculate how may episodes will fill a disk.
This is assuming you can burn each episode.
However my opinion on the matter is to buy a dual layer DVD RW to compliment your DVD player.

You should just use DVDShrink to get rid of all the menus and bullshit you don't need. Most movies I backup, I don't need a DL dvd.
