Photo editing peeps....QUESTION!
This plane was coming in for a landing about 4pm this afternoon in good sunlight. I hit the image with the "edge glow" effect in Paint Shop Pro 11, and all of these little stars popped up in the background. Dust on my lens maybe?? I looked at it and it's as clear as a bell! Thoughts?
And here is the original:

I am not 100% certain, but I would have to agree with you on dust.
I only say this because with high resolution scanners and negative scanners you can get the same effect. You then have to clean it up in PS.

Dude. The first pic is at night. They're stars.
You can't see stars during the day.

The sun is the star at the center of the Solar System.

Then why do STARS look like little pin pricks in the sky, where as the sun is always at least as big as a dime, or, depending on where you are in the world, as big as a golf ball (both at arms length).
Planets are big, stars are small. It's not hard to see the difference.

Because the Sun has a diameter of about 865,000 mi and by itself accounts for about 99.9% of the Solar System's mass.

This is what I imagine too. I've had the same thing happen on completely solid color sections (Computed generated, no possibility of picking up dust through a lens, etc).'
Edit: with that said, there probably isn't anything wrong with your camera, just a fallacy of the filter on photoshop (or whatever you're using), and can just edit them out.
