    Peer passengers are bad news for teen drivers

    File under duh, in my opinion, but maybe it's news to someone.

    in AL teens under 18 can only have up to two other passengers in the car that is not a family member.

    In texas you have to have your license for 1 full year and you can have who ever in the car if your under 18. So basicaly at 17 you can have whoever in a car.

    I know bc im 17 lol.

    Yeah and you add cell phones into the mix and it gets even worse.

    Passenger sticking her phone in front of driver saying, "Like, omg, check out the pic of this bitch on my facebook wall." Driver looks over at passengers screen saying, "Like omg, that tramp thinks she's the shit." This conversation obviously ends with the drivers car crashing into the side of another car due to running of red light.

    So that means male teen drivers with passengers speed more even when they don't crash? The research isn't as good as it could be.

    I'd be less likely to speed with passengers. I feel more responsible and nervous in that situation. However, the latter tends to make me talk more, which makes me more distracted. Maybe I'd get used to it if I had passengers more often (sigh). I probably shouldn't admit this, but I've probably never had more than one passenger in a car at a time.

    Anyway, I'm all for more laws against bad driving.
