    well ,there is some sorts of racing that doesnt involve passing.

    really drag doesnt. rally doesnt. time trials dont.

    only real thing is circuit racing.

    so, take that however you like.....

    what? racing is about two things... driving as fast as you can and beating the other guy... so yeah in races where passing is possible yes it is important

    If your in NASCAR then passing would be important, street or drag racing not so much. Well, the only exception I could see would be if you were losing and then passed up the winner. Other than that I think not.

    if there's no passing then there's no race. Even in drag racing someone gets passed.

    i'd say passing is only needed on a very short race... a long race like 24hours races it doesn't matter so much as your pit crew being fast and reliable...

    What about ALMS where you have more than one type car ....LP1.LP2, GT1 , GT2 , all raceing at the same time and haveing very different speeds

    Of course there is WRC .. which leave at different times .. and that is some of the coolest raceing there is .. but they dont race each other but race the best time ,,, and you dont see any passing in that ,,,
