If it's the one pictured then I'm not surprised as African Gray's are as smart as a 5 year old kid. I know a gal who has a mated pair of African Gray's (that she raised from eggs) and Amazonian (the green and yellow type) parrots as well as other birds. At sunset when they all start to chatter the male gray shouts out QUITE! SHUT UP! repeatedly until they stop. I didn't believe her until I heard it myself.

She told me he learned it from her ex-husband who used to shout it out.

And a parrot will become very attached to it's human.
