Apparently it works.
As long as you do what it says and not just sit on the couch watching.

its basically a huge cardio program that is convenient cause you do it at home. theres nothing revolutionary about it, other then that its really structured, and as long as you put in the work, they handle all the guesswork for you. If you are planning on any kind of a mass gain, theres much better ways. however, if you want to look like you are in healthy shape and have good cardiovascular health its probably a pretty nice program to follow

FUCKING THIS! cardio gets you "toned"
Theres absolutely no such thing as lifting to get toned at all. Not light weights, not high reps. both are bs. lift fuckin weight that is heavy for you, 8-12 times, weight that will have you fail around that 8 to 12 range. eat clean and do cardio, and you will be "toned".

High reps would burn fat which would help you look more toned.

Strength Muscles (abs, obliques, lower and upper back, legs)
High Rep Moderate Weight
Beach Muscles (biceps triceps pecs delts)
Low Rep High Weight
A strong core and support (strength muscles) and proper form will keep you from getting injured.
Run before you workout if you are including cardio.
You should be spending at least 30 minutes a muscle group and sweating like a pig... otherwise you're wasting time and energy. (It's best to spread your workout over the week... 3 days, maybe 4... do not work the same muscle group twice in a week)
Daily protein intake = 1g per lb of body weight
P90X is great for core but I'd leave major muscle groups to the weights.

nope. cardio burns/calories and fat. you use muscle glycogen and phospho creatine to fuel lifting weights, which in turn activates muscle fibers and breaks them down and makes them grow in response to the load you put them through. then you fuel their growth and repair via amino acids, protein, and calories consumed. the added muscle growth and mass will raise your metabolic rate at rest which can burn fat. But no added reps, volume, light weight, any of that bullshit is gonna "burn fat". cardio uses fat for fuel, and burns calories. thats what gets you toned.

Good point, if you're not sweating out the ass you're either a complete newbie to lifting or your workout isn't intense enough.
