you getting a smoker too? I would start with simple stuff like pork butts and country ribs. Let me know when you have everything and I'll PM you a step by step on whatever you want to try first. If you have a bigger webber or something like that you can smoke on those too.

I went out to walmart today, but they didn't have any smokers. I think i can order one online. I wanted to look at them before I buy one, but guess i will just end up buying the chargriller or charbroiler.

do you have a Lowe's or Menards close buy? They carry the chargriller for sure. Home depot carries a brinkman which is about the same as the charbroiler.

I looked at home depot and they had the brinkman for 200. I will have to stop by lowes tomorrow.

Probably be cheaper to order one from wal-mart. Another thing I forgot to mention in the other post is the availability of parts for my chargriller. Chargriller's site is pretty decent and they have pretty much every part listed. I guess the only drawback to mine is that firebox design when it comes to getting ash out of it while cooking. If you use lump charcoal the ash is never really an issue. I'm also going to drill some 1" holes in the bottom of mine and then I can slide it out and the ash will fall out the bottom of the tray. You can't go wrong with either smoker really. At the end of the day I'd say the chargriller has more BIG things going for it like parts ordering and I really like the cast iron grates vs the coated stainless.....much sturdier and once they get seasoned nothing sticks to them.

just build your fire against one side of it and put the food on the other side. With the webber's it only takes a handful of charcoal to get your temps where you need them..10-12 pieces. Use a thermometer to control your temps and if you'd like you can put a small pan of water under the food but I never do it that way.

Nhra, that's another plus to the chargriller over the charbroiler. The chargriller has an actual temp gauge where the charbroiler has a gauge that just has an "ideal" area marked off. You should really use a thermometer either way but just another thing to consider.

I did some pork chops and chicken tenders the otherday. Seemed like I needed to finish them over the coals. Maybe it was all that was there was match light?
