Opinions on trans ams and firebirds
I have always been a Chevrolet guy.... Although I know it's pretty much the same car, through the years I have truly never liked the way trans ams look. I think that any guy who has a Camaro will always stand out more than a guy with a Pontiac... Maybe it's just me. Although like I said I love both f body's I have truly never loved a Pontiac fbody.... Don't get mad at me

Totally disagree. LS1 hawks and WS6's are way better looking from any angle really. Now if you're talking about the LT1 4th gen's then i'm with ya...from the fenders up was just hideous IMO.

There is nothing out there like the distinctive shape and hood of the WS6. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of some of the camaros, it's just hard to compare the looks. Just be happy you have what you want, and like. I know I am!

sunset orange metallic- 2002 T/A convertible
The ONLY good looking Camaro was the '69 Z-28 w/ the cowl scoop and rear spoiler with the Rallye Sport option. Best profile ever. I think the best looking Pontiac f-body year was the '69 with the T/A scooped hood, followed by the '75 TA, then the '77-78, then jump to the 4th Gen.

I really like the first gen of both and the second gen but I do not care to much for the third gen of both cars even though I had a 87 gta and have had a 68 firebird and a 69 rs camaro and 3 second gen ta's I like my 99 ta the best and the 4'th gen camaro's.

I DO like the look of both, but when I got my first T/A I was dead set on a Camaro until a guy asked me if I had seen the new T/A front. That was in '99. Loved that car. My current one just looks awesome from the front. I also like the lights on the back. Like some others have said and I agree - if you got what you like, then like what you got! They're all awesome!

Camaro's int/ext has always been more plain.
Firebird/TA int/ext is more upscale and nicer looking.
93-97 Camaro's looks like a Geo Storm on steriods.
98-02 Camaro's look like a catfish.
96-97 Ram Airs are the nicest early 4th gens.
Any 98+ 'Bird looks great IMHO.2010 Camaro SIM 2SS/RS A6

JMHO, the regular hood on a T/A or Firebird looks good while the WS6 hood looks like a gaudy afterthought to the point of being tacky.
But then I've always disliked most aftermarket hoods as well.
While a hood scoop can look nice, an over done hood scoop looks like a Kmart add on or something drawn by a 7th grader during a boring class.

Black- 99 WS.6 - Modified
The WS6 is one of the best looking, most intimidating looking, and best styled cars, IMO. I like the Camaros, but they can look too plain with a flat hood and no spoiler. Jon's - 35th's - as one example, I would have no problem owning. It's a great looking car. But, if given a choice, I'd pick a WS6 first. Everyone will have a different opinion, and as long as they like the car they have, that's all that really matters.

I like all the Trans Ams, LT1/LS1, WS6 or not. As for Camaros I like SS's, LT1 or LS1. Z28s and Formulas are ok when modded with a good looking wheel/tire combo.

Light Pewter Metallic- 2001 Camaro SS
I like the looks of my Camaro but it is far from stock in the appearance department at this point. Stock for stock I will say that the T/A is less plain looking.

Ws6 = sexy, gorgeous body lines, intimidating hood. Just pure sexy.
Camaro = plain and boring, like a nerdy guy trying to hard.

Silver/Black- 00' z28-R.I.P 00' WS6 M6
I've had both, and I like the look of both. But my WS6 has always been my dream car. All my friends unanimously agree as well, and most of them aren't gearheads. When I first told them I was planning on buying a f-body about 3 years ago they all felt I should try to get a WS6. I was happy when I bought my Z28 but everyone else felt like the car was a let down compared to the look of a T/A.
Also in the 3months i've owned my WS6 I've had more people(mostly chicks) ask if they could ride/drive it than i did in the 3 years I had my Z28. It also gets way more stares at car shows as well as questions asked about it.
I even had my GF ask if she could drive it for a day as her birthday present, she never asked when I had the Z28
But to each their own

This discussion can vary a great deal. Talking about pontiacs when they had real pontiac motors vs. today where it's virtually appearance differences only.
I currently have both, old and new, firebirds and camaros. It's all a matter of taste. I've had 2 Trans Ams in the past as well. They all look great.
In the end I prefer the Formulas over any of the other birds. The TA's and Firehawks are a bit too flashy for me. I'd much rather prefer to walk softly and carry a big stick
Camaro's aren't necessarily plain either, but the SS is much more subtle than say a comparable WS6.
Back in the day camaro's were competing in the pony car wars, that was the intention. Pontiac did the firebird as a little more refined example of the pony car. But back then you were either a loyal pontiac fan with pontiac engines, or you were a loyal chevy fan with chevy engines. That's what made the biggest difference between the cars. Some of us even traveled both sides of the fence
With 4th gens, none of that matters. Pick your appearance tastes and enjoy. In some instances it doesn't really matter. I can't tell you how many people I've ran into that mistake a firebird for a camaro anyway, I just say thanks and move on.Last edited by Firebirdjones; 10-30-2011 at 05:57 PM.
