opinions in the 6.5l Diesel
I am looking to buy a truck soon, I will be pulling 4000lbs trailer all day long...in city. Just wondering about the gm diesel. 1994-1998. I know they have their issues, but would you say to avoid this engine at all cost?

What about a GM 2500 with a 6.0 gas engine? They can handle well more than that on a daily basis. You can get a used one relatively cheap too.
I agree w/ the injector pumps comment on the deisel.

True. The ford has a International. Very dependable. Do not buy one of the Big displacement Engines ,, 454 460 . the look impressive but dont pull much better than the smaller blocks.

so the main prob is the injector pump? isn't there something you can do to fix this? my b udget is less then $7000, so I don't think I could get into a 6.0L.

there are good ones and bad ones. my dad has a 2000 dually crew cab long bed with 6.5 replaced injector pump once still running good with only 94,000 miles. pulls trailors great

take the 7.3 over the 6.5. navistar (international) builds a much better engine than GM. Only concern I'd have with the cummins in the dodge's would be the transmissions...which is why I say go with the ford....otherwise the ford or dodge will be much better than the gm.
