    opinions in the 6.5l Diesel

I am looking to buy a truck soon, I will be pulling 4000lbs trailer all day long...in city. Just wondering about the gm diesel. 1994-1998. I know they have their issues, but would you say to avoid this engine at all cost?

avoid.....unless you feel the need to replace injector pumps every 9 months at a cost of $1500

a ford of those year models would be your best bet.....provided you keep extra cam sensors handy and know how to change them

a dodge would be good too with a Cummins......AND A STANDARD!

What about a GM 2500 with a 6.0 gas engine? They can handle well more than that on a daily basis. You can get a used one relatively cheap too.

I agree w/ the injector pumps comment on the deisel.

True. The ford has a International. Very dependable. Do not buy one of the Big displacement Engines ,, 454 460 . the look impressive but dont pull much better than the smaller blocks.

so the main prob is the injector pump? isn't there something you can do to fix this? my b udget is less then $7000, so I don't think I could get into a 6.0L.

yes get a "new style pump" and move the lil black electronics box off of it to the fender well

then you will only have to put a new one on every 12 months

take the 7.3 over the 6.5. navistar (international) builds a much better engine than GM. Only concern I'd have with the cummins in the dodge's would be the transmissions...which is why I say go with the ford....otherwise the ford or dodge will be much better than the gm.
