Something I always wondered about cars that sit for extended periods of time...what happens to the valve springs? I mean, some are still compressed when the engine shuts down. I highly doubt they return to their normal form after years of being pushed down.

That is a good question. My guess is the low will be about 12K and the high around 17K. I wonder if it is still under warranty since it looks like it was never registered.

well it obviously runs as the picture of the tach confirms. Doesn't mean it runs 100% but it means the springs didn't snap when the car was started and that they are prob strong enough to seal the valves shut.

    Nothing special

All the seals, bushings, and other rubber based parts are likely wasted. Also hope the guy just didn't completely dry start it for the picture.

Valve seals on a chev go bad if it sits for a week. Ask me how I know >:| mine were bad when I got it though. So I'd change the springs, valve seals, and intake gaskets

I doubt anyone who buys it will be buying it to drive it... infact I would hope not, tons of them out there with alot of miles on. Definety something that should be preserved as is. As much as I hate show only cars, this is something you rarely see.

that needs to go into a museum or something, with that low of miles and originality, it wont run for very long, i'd rather spend the money on a project car i can work on myself

    Sadly now demodded :(

Did they say "Investor/Collector/Museum" enough times?

I feel sad for that car as they were made to be driven (even if only occasionally), not "stored"...

And that "165hp" can be rectified with heads/cam/intake/carb and exhaust just like today. It's already got a 4-speed and and 8.5" with 3.42 gears with a posi.

not bad for a car, but with some miles (around 40-60k) those are nickle cars, 5000k at most around here
