I found this vintage slot car set circa 1972-74, it is in really great shape, check out how young Petty, Stewart and Foyt are.

I have an old steamer trunk full of track....
There were several dfferent types of track (slot depth and connector designs), and several types of chassis molds for the vehicles... Aurora was the best (in my opinion) and Tyco second...
Back in the day kits were available with different magnets, different pickup shoies and springs, different gears for the rear axle, and different axles and rims (aluminum axles with threaded rims), and brushes were available with different silver content. Armature wire was available separately for those of us willing to rewind with different wire gauges, and there was a third party aftermarket for even faster parts...
I was pretty into HO racing as a kid. I especially liked the white silicone racing tires.2002 Street ET Champion New England Dragway
