    Oil Section

So I was thinking it would be a good idea to have a section on this site specifically about oils. There is so much info about them and so many questions floating around I think it would be very useful. What do you guys think?

Yep, in the firebird we only use Royal Purple but for the DD's we use Valvoline. I've always been told to stay away from anything ending in 'oil' like PenZoil (too gunky in the engine)...

What about Amsoil? It ends in oil. I don't think the people that told you that knew what they were talking about.

I had a coupon for a free oil change at firestone. They used Kendal gt-1 semi syn. Is this adequate? Keep in mind its for my nissan rogue that is driven average.

Hey guys - thanks for the heads up. I trust my source cause he's a guy thats worked on many many types of vehicles and for 40+ years. He's got a chiltons book for every vehicle I come across. I have no problem accepting new info if there's been changes so I'll hear anyone out. I'll do some digging.

Oh and Raynor I'm not a guy - but that doesn't mean I don't know how to use the dipstick in the car... ha ha ha... I've been told I know a lot about cars for a female.

look all I am going to say right now is lets not turn this into I am girl this is what I know about cars thread. I have seen this happen way to many times and lets not start it here. You can start another thread if you have something to prove. If you wanna discuss oil go for it, but proving what you know for a girl is not what anyone wants to hear. Nor should anyone be coming down on you for being a girl....but if you are wrong you are wrong and you will hear about it. Do some research you will find RP is nothing to get excited about..

I know excellent butchers who know crapola about raising cattle. Tibology is what I have studied for over 30 years...that is the science of lubrication....a mechanic may be great and nice but doesnt know shit about tribology...Look at RP UOA's. My youngest daughter can go toe to toe with anybody in tribology so the sex thing means nothing to me. Stay facts based versus hearsay.
