Navy Blue Metallic- 2000 T/A Firehawk M6
oh i love torque
just a quick blurb.
Ford wasn't happy with playing second fiddle to the duramax so starting with next weeks production the powerstroke has been upgraded to an even 400hp and 800 lb-ft of torque. yeah that's a jump of 35 lb-ft over the duramax.
i can't even comprehend that kind of power... EIGHT HUNDRED lb-ft.... STOCK!!!! it's going to up the 5th wheel tow rating of the super duty to 22,600 lbs

I'm looking at getting an '11 F250 4WD next spring when they start offloading them on the cheap. They are still getting 22+ mpg from what I've heard.

Anything less than being capable of launching yourself through the atmosphere is little.

Is there any other fuel option for a 3/4 ton truck?
IMO if you have anything other than a half ton your wasting money by having a gas motor. What's the point of having that towing capacity with a motor that might pull it, but will eat you alive on gas. And if you're buying a 3/4 ton to just drive around and not haul with (thereby making the gas acceptable) then you shouldn't have a 3/4 ton truck in the first place.
I'm of the old school thinking that a truck is a truck and should be used as such, not as a mall crawler cause it looks cool. I drive 140 mi round trip for work every day and can't tell you how many Z71's or FX4's I see with 22's and street tires on them.Last edited by Grimpala; 08-03-2010 at 12:58 PM.

Big block. Or if it were truly a 3/4 ton (think -98 Chev) a small block. Before you guys blow your load, look at the torque to weight ratio. These are already running around here. Wonder if they're as stealthy as the 6.4's

Torque to weight don't mean shit if you're towing a 5 ton trailer. I want the longest heaviest truck I can find with the biggest diesel I can find if I'm pulling that load.
try pulling a 7,000# backhoe with your 3/4 350ci. I've pulled the same with a 1/2 ton with a 350 and it was scary as hell. Learned my lesson on that one.

Nothing wrong with the gas trucks. Some people will find a 3/4 ton gas just find over a diesel. Probably only drive the truck with a small boat to the lake. Pick some dirt or wood from the store. Go hunting during the season. Maybe trailer there car to the show/track. This person probably has a nicer/fuel efficient car they drive every day. So they probably only use the truck for it's purpose and don't put very many miles on the truck. So the up front cost and up keep of a diesel may not be worth it.
