Do you guys really think there aren't any dumb Americans that will buy these? People buy Honda elements, Scion XB's, Kias, smart cars, yaris', aveos....do i really need to keep going? Americans are cheap - who gives a shit about other americans - type of people, they could give two shits where it is made or who its made by as long as it's cheap and isn't made by a fellow american.

isnt part of the reason people havent been buying american products is the perception of quality? How the fuck does importing chinese shit improve on this? Kill the customer via fiery car accident before they get to bitch about what a piece of shit their car is?

None- None
The news item is a little bit misleading. GM would not be buying cars from another automaker and rebadging them as their own. The cars in question, most likely Buicks, are actual GM cars being built at GM assembly plants being sent stateside.
Granted, the labor used to assemble them is not American, though the profits from said sales would be coming back to America. It is obviously not an ideal situation in the eyes of American labor but we are still talking about products from an American company. It is not like they are being made by Chery and coming here with American nameplates.
I am not looking to start an online war- I am not thrilled with the situation, either. I'm just clarifying a few points.

What he said. And the cars are honestly very good looking as far as Buick goes.

I really don't blame 'em. It's one of the only ways to get costs down.
Thanks UAW, again. (as discussed 1,000,000,000 times already)

Chinese people fucking love Buicks. That Regal is only made over there right now. I actually wouldn't give a shit if they brought those over here. I bet people would buy them without really caring where it's made and give GM some money.
