Wow, I have to say that I am surprised how that Bel Air caved in comparison. So much for feeling safer in the old tanks

I hate watching them (Especially the insurance ones that are more real-life, as opposed to the lame government ones that make cars seem safe) because I always think about this stuff happening to me (even more so when I see a video of a car I regularly drive or ride in) but when ever someone links one I always watch it through, and end up clicking through the youtube list and watch an hours worth of them. So thanks

Well think about it those old cars were full framers. The body panels were mostly hollow. Kinda like surrounding yourself with balloons made of steel and jumping off a building. The balloons pop and so would you...

Gotta love those videos. I personally liked how the vert mustang's windshield thumped the dummy on the head and how the conventional bus turned into a cab-over almost instantly. Do you think cops in China flip a coin to decide who has to goto a car accident? I bet they don't even send an ambulance they just send the coroner.

True. But, even still. It's just something we were brought up to think. The bigger, heavier, the safer.

I know that up against todays designs, it doesn't compare. But man, watching that just felt sad and squashed my safety zone

Well when they weigh 4000 pounds... That's actually why they're so heavy, other than upsizing from the last gen Camaro and the original Challenger

well, the structural ridgitity of those cars is also very good. I mean the weight thing, same could be said for the bel air. Its the ridgid structure that keeps those cars from just crumbling on impact.
