Used to have a SeaRay 175.

Didn't use it enough to justify keeping it so I sold it.

you will learn what boat really stands for........break out another thousand. Boats are fun as hell as long as someone else owns it. Expensive hobby.

I don't own a boat. Maybe if I win powerball I'll get one, although the jackpot would have to be over 100 million for it to be financially feasible.

And get used to it costing $100 every time you take it out for a day of fun.

Boats have to push through a high drag medium, water. So of course they swill fuel.

They also sit for long periods of time and stuff breaks, which you conveniently discover as you get it into the water.

I love boats. I just found that I love them more when someone else owns it.

your boat is probably going to be a little more efficient than most because of the hull and weight. I personally like the sea-doo boats but I like jet skis in general so I automatically sway towards something with the same type of engine and design.

Have a 27 ft pontoon and 2 jet skis all within 1-3 years old. 2 out of 3 months every summer tend to be really fun. That other month is spent swearing to get rid of all 3 and call it a day. Went out Sunday and 2 out of 3 batteries were dead and the jet ski one that was had just been used the day before and was only a week old. The pontoon boats battery had just come off the charger that morning. Also marine battery warranties suck compared to other automotive batteries. Spent most of the day swearing. But when it's all working it's a blast.

Oh I can assure you it all happened. If anything he may have given you the Cliff's Notes version.

    There's a reason it's called the best 2 days of a boat owner's life:

    The day you bought it.

    The day you sold it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to get you down on your boat.

Millions have them and love them.

I'm just letting you know to expect the occasional unwelcome surprise that usually costs $$$

if I ever buy another boat it'll be a little flat bottom jon boat with a 9.9 but I don't even see that happen. My old boat has been gone about 3-4 years and I don't miss it at all. Worked on that damn thing constantly only for it to randomly strand my ass somewhere for no apparent reason.

    Boat story:

We were water skiing one fine summer at the Colorado river below the dam. Everything was going fine until we a sand bar and it ripped the prop off of the boat (V-drive with a BBC for motorvation - yeah it was fast). Dove over board to search for the prop but never found it. Had to ROW (paddle actually) the damn thing back to camp. Lots 'o fun in the summer heat...

Right after we got it last summer. Didn't realize just how big it was till my brother hitched his 4runner to it.
