Smaller meals, and an active lifestlye, is the best way to drop weight.

Exercise. Do plenty of cardio, at least an hour a day, and cut out the junk food.

Make lots and lots of lovins but you have to do most of the work. Its the best workout ever. I lost 20lbs in 3 months while dating a girl that constantly required her sexual needs satisfied. 10 of that 20lbs was probably burnt off from stress though! lol

I gained the freshman 15 when I first started college a while back. Cutting out soda and just junk food in general helps. Exercise is the key as well, don't try this fad diet crap cause you will just gain the weight back in the end. Besides that stuff is for lazy people. Just get off your a$$ and exercise and you should be fine.

seriously I have been doing the "eternal beach body plan" at Mens Fitness for about 6 weeks now and definitely see results.
If you don't have a gym membership or access to a treadmill or workout equipment you can always pick up a $5 jump rope.
http://www.mensfitness.com/fitness/413
1.) Cost. Unlike a treadmill, elliptical, or other high-tech cardio machine, jump ropes sell for about $15, and a good one should last for years — if not decades.
2.) Portability. You can take it anywhere and use it indoors or out.
3.) Strength gain. Jumping builds bone-mineral density and improves total-body power. Athletes have used it to improve their vertical jump height.
4.) Improved coordination. The jump rope forces you to keep a rhythmic pace and use proper form, otherwise you trip.
5.) Fat loss. Jumping rope involves nearly every muscle. Some people report that it's the only cardio they need to lose fat.
THE WORKOUT
This beginner's routine will jump-start your conditioning
Jump for 30 reps swinging the rope forward. If you trip up, it's OK, just continue until you hit 30. Rest 30 seconds, and then do another 30 reps, swinging the rope backward. (Hint: it's harder.) Rest again. That's one set. Perform four to eight sets depending on your endurance. If you have never jumped rope before or haven't for a while, imitate a jump-rope workout for a few days—pretend you're using a rope and rotate your wrists in time with your jumps. It may feel silly, but you'll learn timing and condition your body to use the rope.

Depending on your body metabolism, there are several nutritional plans you can adopt.
Diets do not work. period. Any nutritionalist will tell you the same thing.
Talk to a nutritionalist and find out what would work best for you.
Low Carb plan IE Atkins works for Millions. Moderate your intake and add light excercise (cardio style) for 15 minutes a day. That's what my wife does. She's (whispers) 37 and honestly looks in her 20's ... 5'3" 118 lbs 36-27-37 She's not Jessica Alba, but I ain't Brad Pitt either..
Seriously. Forget diets.. Do a nutritional plan ( read change the way you eat on a permanent basis)
Do a diet - lose weight... stop the diet - weight comes back.
Not just my opinion here, I am repeating what the Professionals and Nutritionalists say.
Hope it helps.

I completely changed the way I eat and drink 6 weeks ago.
I have since dropped 43 pounds.
I used to sit around the house, share otterpops with Sara, drink Pepsi, eat chips, burgers, etc...
Now...I work out for roughly 2 hours a day (mostly cardio for now) and eat salads, fruits, veggies, turkey, much less bread, drink little of anything but water.Last edited by Mr. Luos; 12-27-2008 at 01:03 PM.

im down 55lbs so far. Few people here already gave some good advice(MrLuos/kahanareef) and a few others. Like said before diets dont work you need to change your eating style, know when to eat, what to eat,how to portion your meals. Many fail at it cause they have no idea what to eat and when its time to "diet" they think salad and rice cakes, dont eat after 6pm bs. Let me ask you this--how many calories do you need in a day to maintain YOUR bodyweight? You probably dont know and if you do know then--How many calories should you cut from your current eating habbits to loose weight? Im going to guess you probably dont know. This is the first step to failure as most will do a drastic cut in calories and yea loose some weight but then stop loosing let alone your probably loosing more muscle than fat on a drastic calorie restriction so in turn you might weigh less but your actually fatter than when you started. Most people just look at the scale and if they see a weight reduction they think all is good but have no idea that they are burning up muscle due to the serious cut in calories. You shouldnt be loosing more than 2-3lbs a week(first week aside as you tend to loose excess water weight). Of couse once you get your eating habbits in order you should be looking into working out as well as cardio. Most will ditch the working out part as they see no use for it. This is another area that leads to failure. Working out will build strength and muscle, putting on one pound of muscle will burn 50 more calories a day just sitting on your butt doing nothing. Building some muscle will also keep the metabolism up to speck in turn allowing you to burn more calories throught the day.
I would say to you to start off with finding out your BMR and what YOUR body needs in calories per day to maintain your weight. Reduce that number by 300 calories per day for the first few weeks and see how you do.

Losing weight is very very complex process, but after much studying at college I have figured it out, calorie intake < calories burned. OMFG!!!
Seriously, cut how much you eat in half. If you are happy your diet isn't right. When I diet I am starving all the time and I hate it, but it works.
