    1987 chevy camaro iroc z

    Not sure where to post this but here it goes...

    I have a 77 buick electra and I'm thinking about swapping motors. Can I swap any gm motor?

    If it's still the original engine then it'll have either a Buick or an Olds 350 in it already. There is a difference between the 2. GM was mixing and matching a variety of engines in those days.

    Can you swap in any GM motor? The short answer is yes. You may have an incompatibility with frame mounts and tranny bell housing bolt patterns depending on what it has and what you want to drop in it.

    well it has a 403 block that can be rebuilt but I don't know if I want to do that...

    403 (Olds type engine) was the optional engine for your car so it may be the original engine. Are you sure you don't want to keep it if it's the original engine?

    most older cars = a shit load more room in the engine bay... you can pretty much drop in about anything provided you have a good welder/cutter...

    Yea Im thinking about keeping it because it might be cheaper to just rebuild that engine than buying a new one...
