Angry New NJ bs rules for collector car status...

Vehicles applying for collector vehicle status must be approved by MVC. Follow these steps to apply:

    Complete the collector vehicle application

Submit a letter from the vehicle manufacturer, recognized car club or a collector organization attesting to the vehicle’s limited production status. Must be printed on official letterhead

    Show proof of limited-use insurance

Include photographs of front, driver side, passenger side and rear of the vehicle

How is one supposed to come up with a bs letter like they require? WTF

Yes, it is. I'm going to call the DMV tomorrow to ask about it, but I doubt they will be any help.

what is the part that you object to? the part about the limited production status? if that's the case i expect that a lot of current collector plate holders are going to be pissed when their '69 camaro no longer qualifies.

It does say "recognized car club or a collector organization" I'm sure there are a ton of "recognized" clubs that have a letter head that are willing to send out a letter for other owners.

Thanks for the heads up that New Germany is getting more tyranical. It amazes me that collector cars are driven usually less the 6k miles a year and our wonderful Governor can drive a huge SUV and pollute the hell out of the state everyday

Damn, that sucks, I think the only requirement in Georgia to get a collector car tag is just having a car that is 25 year old or older (only 3 more years for me ). Most people only do it to beat emissions though, you see these fucked ass rusted 40 year old pickup trucks driving around with collector car plates

But even then, you only need to pass emission tests in the counties of Atlanta or Metro Atlanta... Since I'm away from the city while I'm in college, I got a proof of residency out of the emissions-required area to remove emissions liability

DAmn, I live in NJ and they had said it was soo easy when I had asked them over teh summer. I guess it is time to move out of this Fuked up state. Not only are the roads the worst in the counrty 8 straight years, but this new law is gonna make me sell my car and own a bicycle. Let's see them slap a registration fee on that bad boy. (although I am sure they will find a way to make it happen)
