see earlier thread lol..... my advice? unless you have some bolt ons don't mess with the 2011 stang. they are packing around 440-450hp. Someone got a 5.0 strapped to a dyno and pulled 395hp at the wheels.

I don't think the weight difference will keep a 395 horse mustang from beating a maybe 340 horse bolt on car. But 9/10 mustang guys around here can't drive. Yes, even automatics

    weight difference?

    2011 Mustang GT 3603
    2002 TransAm 3499

    104lbs is a big difference?

The Camaro and Challenger are the porkers in the bunch. i think being down nearly 100hp to a car that is 100lbs heavier isn't going to do a stock f-body any good. A good F-body would dyno 300-305 when new. these are dynoing 395 out of the box....

Pretty open shut case. The 4th gen had a nearly 17 year run as king of the streets. From 1993-2010 it has been the best bang for the buck you could get. Can't argue with progress though.

Even tho I like the new 2011 very much remember this IS a pre-production car .. and could have a little extra umph, because Ford knew all sorts of people would be testing it ...

Point being? 4th gen's had either an LT1 or an LS1. I think what we are discussing has more to do with stock for stock.... sure anyone can put an LS3 in a 4th gen and with a few bolt ons end up with more power than the new stang and whip em good.

Unless of course you are pointing out that the LS3 is rated 426 and puts down 360 while the 5.0 is rated 412 and puts down 395....

In that case.... indeed! an interesting development for sure!

Indeed that is where I was going. If they don't move me to Chrysler at work I'll let everyone know how the new 5.0 is when they start coming in and I PDI one

I can't wait for that thing to debut. Gonna be sick as hell. If i had enough money for one, i'm 100% sure i'd have to go ahead and get one.

    yeah the torque is poor.

but 395 at the wheels is pretty good, if it's legit.

Lsx cars for the most part don't hook well street tires, so it doesn't seem like torque would be a huge decisive factor unless you're on the track. Given a choice, i would pick torque
