New Emissions Bill
Anybody know anything about this new emissions bill that was passed. Will it eventually put an end to modern muscle or have no effect whatsoever?

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
i was gonna say, most cars now should get 25 on the Hwy...i agree, it should be increased to 30.
just mean's that auto manufactures have to figure out how to push the limit with the confinds otherwise, they should make prices adapt. If i'm gonna buy a 2010 camaro and get slammed with a "gas tax" then i'm hoping GM prices it to accomedate that

If Americans wanted to buy and drive more fuel efficient vehicles, then they would. There are plenty of cars/hybrids/diesels out there that get extremely good gas mileage. Why make it government mandated?
Do you want the government to mandate every aspect of your life?
People who want to make a difference can, and people who simply cannot afford a vehicle that gets 12 mpg can buy one of numerous vehicles that get 30+ mpg all day long.
It boils down to personal taste and personal resposibility. I don't need the government dictating either.

Parents and schools should teach personal responsibility. Parents especially. Everyone plays the blame game, wants to require big corporations and the government to raise their children, and tell them what's right and what's wrong.
Let the manufacturers make cars more fuel efficient. If the consumer demands it, they will make it. It shouldn't be congress that forces them to do so.
Not to mention grouping the trucks into the 35mpg requirement is plain retarded.

Like I said, the personal responsibility part of your arguement isn't happening nationwide. So, that can be thrown out the window. I'm not so sure it's the 'blame game' anymore. We don't have a great looking energy situation because there really is no change happening. Don't you think it makes sense to not live in the past and make reform? This bill passed OVERWHELMINGLY in both the Senate and the House, and then quickly was signed by the President. How did the Senator (or House rep, or both) that you voted for cast his vote? (that is, if you voted)
I haven't read through the entire bill, but are trucks included? If so, why is it retarded? Why is better fuel mileage a bad thing??
