Red face Need weekend getaway ideas

EDIT: We've decided to stay in Atlantic City. Free beach + gambling FTW.

I've never stayed overnight in AC, though. What are some decent places that do not cost a fortune?

I've been to AC more times than I can count. I know the area around the Casinos is garbage.

She doesn't drink & I just play rapid roulette. Maybe OC, MD would be better...

Wife and I just did Gettysburg a few weeks ago. Lots of sights, plenty of good places to eat, and things to do..
Only limited by your wallet but it's not a heavy requirement either..
Another plus is a lot of it is within walking distance (not all of it tho) if you get a hotel in town..

I'll hit AC if I want to gamble.

What exactly did you do/see in Gettysburg, just war stuff?

Mostly enjoyed the sights, and the little period restraunts , and lots of shopping.. Ate @ this place (period bed and breakfast kinda thing) in the basement. Had the Best New York strip steak I've tasted in my travels in the lower 48 thus far (I've been alot of places).. Wife and I also did the whole Williamsburgh VA. Busch Gardens thing last year, as well as Kings Island Oh.
Had a blast in them all..

Guess it's a matter of what you're into..

You can't gamble in Ocean City?

That was the whole reason we used to go there years ago..

You should head to the " Shore ". Exit 74 ( Forked River ) off the GSP, make right onto Lacey road. Follow for about 2-2.5 miles until you get to RTE 9. Make right onto 9 South. Follow about 1 mile to the Bay Harbour Motor Lodge on left. Nice clean rooms, about $100 a nite. Now, you are 30 mins from Long Beach Island, 45 mins from AC, 25 mins from Seaside Amusement Park, 80 miles from Wildwood, 10 mins from the largest Elks Lodge in NJ (Lacey Elks, 9 acres on the water, outside pavillion, tiki bar, entertainment, food, cheap booze with buy-backs!) There are also 3 man-made lakes for swimming 2 mins away. There are quite a few great places to eat in the area, one of them being The Captain's Inn 5 mins away. It has a regular restaurant on one side of the road and on the otheris the semi-enclosed Tiki bar which is situated right on the Forked River just below the State Marina. The food is excellent, prices are fair, people are friendly, and you can relax while eating and watching the boats cruise by. On Saturdays the local BK has a cruise nite which has a pretty good turnout, even though I have the only fourth gen there. If interested, reply in this thread or pm me.

Speaking of the NJ shore, are there any free beaches left? I have been going to Seaside since I was a kid. have not been to LBI in a while. Is LBi free? I don't care for Wildwood.

My brother and sister in law just stayed at the dunes the other weekend. Sounded like they liked the place. Right on the beach and near the boardwalk

$200 to $400+ per night. Not spending that much.
