Need opinions on RIT fabric dye
This is the second dye job that I've done on an Fbody carpet and have a little issue. The first dye job I did on tan carpet to black turned out great with RIT dye.
The second carpet which was light to med. grey to black turned out like shit. The entire carpet has a purple tint to it. Same brand dye and very close to the same amt.
Anyone that has experience with dying fabrics please chime in and inform me of what is possibly the issue. Did I use too much dye, too little?
In both jobs I ended up using cold water instead of hot and let the carpet set in the dye bath for about 24hrs.
Any info will be highly appreciated!

There may have been something used on the carpet. Shampoo residue left on it or maybe something like that.
I've dyed a ton of fabrics with RIT, but, never carpet.
I use only very hot water.
