    Need a new battery

    It's time to get a new battery for the Camaro. It mostly sits in the garage and the current battery doesn't hold a charge anymore. What kind does everyone recommend?

    do you take care of the battery when the car sits? That will drastically reduce battery life if you don't. I've never gotten on the $200 optima train. I just run Duralast batteries in my stuff. Never had problems from them.

    No I haven't and I know it reduces battery life. I plan on either getting a trickle charger or just disconnect the battery when the cars sits in the future.

    I need one for the Trans Am too, I was thinking about jumping on the Optima train but now I think I'm just gonna go to Sears and buy one. I choose Sears because I have never any issues with their warranty services

    We've got an interstate store near here that sells new and blems. Only problem with Interstate is their choice of color. ALTHOUGH there are a few that come through all black..

    Duralast here. No issues. Stock one lasted 7 years and I've had this new one for 2 years.

    Yup, I've got one of those green goblins under my hood I have to say though, that it's been a good battery. My car has a lot of down time. Always starts right up though.

    i run an optima and love it but i got it one year old for $35.... my brother also has one in his plow truck also works great has been in there for 2 years no problem and same with my girlfriends brother no problems yet... they are great batteries not saying the price is real nice but great batteries....

    personally i would go with AC Delco( most GM factory batteries last up to 7 years in my experience) or Auto Craft(Advance Auto Parts)

    duralast=neverlast

    but w/e battery you run if you store the car or dont drive it often enough, to make a battery last you must maintain them, just unhooking the battery isnt good enough...

    iv seen many batteries come in from summer cars that are bad(one year old batteries) and i always ask if they had a trickle charger/maintainer on them and 99% of the time they say "no but i unhooked it" that will still kill a battery!!!

    I buy the cheap one from Advanced, works fine. I keep a Battery Tender hooked up to it during down time.

    I have a battery charger but was thinking about getting a battery tender for the winter. How much do those run?

    Don't remember exactly. $70ish? Look into the Shcumachers I think it's called. Does the same thing but cheaper. Wal-mart and most auto parts stores has em.
