Need to find a daily driver
So instead of buying a rear end from Midwest, I've decided to buy a DD. I am tired of putting so many miles on my car and the last thing I want to do is buy a 3k rear end and drive it in snow. So do you guys have any opinions on whats a good DD that gets good gas milieage? I have 3k to spend right now. Thanks

Not a Cobalt automatic for sure. Sis's old car and it didn't get shit for mileage now matter who and how they drove it. Plus it was a turd. I would get something slow (4-cylinder) but still handles good to retain some entertainment factor.

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
Grand Am GT? Grand Prix GTP? Monte SS(3800sc)? Impala SS(3800sc)? List could go on and on.

hhhmm I dont know about domestic. Other then my TA I dont trust anything made by GM lol. I've been thinking about going with Toyota, Nissan, or Honda. Although I do like the Bonnies and I do lime the Impala but I've heard horror stories about them.

Atleast in Texas ,there are quite a few 96-02 v6 birds and camaros for around 3k on autotrader.com. That would be 100-150k miles though. One was a really clean 5-speed camaro for 3k with 80k miles. Probably wrecked beofre though.

Custom Swirly Black- 2001 WS6 M6
LMFAO
Subaru's come all wheel drive, so they're fun in the snow. But, 3k may not get you into one.
I've gone through a winter beater every year and this time around I was thinking about a s-10/sanoma/blazer/jimmy/bravada/trailblazer(some years). Parts are extremely common and every junk yard has one of those models. Plus your keeping it !

Bright Red- 1999 Trans Am Ws6
If you want a winter beater get a taurus and throw some blizzaks on it. My bro's was awesome, all the weight of the engine is right on the drive wheels. You say you don't trust domestic, but parts are way way cheaper and considering how many taurus owners there are, I gotta think they have done something right? My Bro's made 185K miles before he went through some deep water with it.

Black- RIP S4 06Tbss
A cupple years ago my beater was a 98 Eclips rs, fwd, 4cyl, 5spd, got killer gas milage and did really well in the snow with some decent all season tires. It made it threw the Colorado winter no problem, I bought it for like $3400.00 I thought it was a good beater/dd.

To think about it, get a little truck. S-10, Ranger, etc. It would be very handy, to pull engines out of junk yards, pull a car short distance, hire mexicans then calling INS after the work is done, etc.

4 CYL 5 speed Ranger.
Good gas mileage, cheap parts, and nigh indestructible.

The Acura TL 3.2L (Fancy Accord) I had would get 24-26 MPG, not much better then my Trans Am, also needed high octane when V-Shit kicked in.
My stepdad use to have an 4 CYL and a manual S-10, average about 22 MPg on the High Way, with his tools.
