You mean there was no freebie software in the package?
That would strike me as being odd.

most of the cheapies won't burn copyrighted movies, I tried it and the movies come out garbled. Try this program, DVD XCopy. Works pretty good. Sometimes some movies won't copy. A copy of Crash recently wouldn't copy, but others did...

I'm sure there are other programs out there by now that are better, but this one works for me...

I could never get Xcopy to work for some reason... I've used one called CloneDVD quite successfully though.

Whether or not you can copy copyrighted DVD's is only a software restriction. Most if not all (including CloneDVD which I use) DVD copying software will not allow you to successfully copy a copyrighted DVD. You need another piece of software running in the background that will disable the copy protection on the source DVD. I use something called AnyDVD for that purpose.

I use DVD shrink, which is free, along with nero. They burn exact copies, with all the extra's everything. Works great, just set your burner speed to the lowest speed like 1 or 2x. There are a few newer movies that I have not been able to copy. Here they are

    Jarhead
    Walk The Line
    The new Zoro
maybe one or two more but that's about it, most everything will copy prefect, with perfect quality.

I second DVDshrink... the software is downloadable for free.... it compresses the movie, and allows for easy removal of other languages etc so you can get a whole dvd to fit on one 4.7gb disk

I use DVD Decypter and Dual layer blanks. No shrinkage equals exact copies of 'your' original DVD for 'back up' copies of course.

The proggy can be d/l for free using a quick google...
