Need digital camera suggestions.....
I know at least some of you out there know your stuff in this field. I'm looking for an older model camera with most features of a DSLR but no more 200 bucks and nothing lower than 5 MP. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Canon G7, I think is getting down there. Maybe even a G9?

What do you intend to do with the camera? What will you be shooting? Long shots, close shots?
Don't worry about MP either.

I'm just doing general shooting, but don't want to be limited by the camera. Mostly pictures of the car and car shows. But I want quality photos, not just "point and shoot" shots

My middle camera is a Sony H50. It's a pretty decent little camera. Auto and manual settings.
A little more than $200 though. The price has come way down to $379 and Sony has it on sale for $289 right now.

It will be hard to get any features of a DSLR for $200, but this is close.

I may be interested in selling my G9... But I would not let it go for $200, just an fyi. But if I where on a budget, I would look into a G7 or Nikon's competition camera.

I should mention that it's a nice manual mode I'm looking for the most.
There was a craigslist ad for a nikon 5700 for like 80 bucks but it was sold when I called. Just a more advanced point and shoot with 5mp and a robust manual mode without being a dslr

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS CAMERA TO ANYONE!!! (Well, no one that I like anyway).

Here are pictures using a canon SD1000, a simple point and shoot camera, the picture quality really isn't bad. And this camera is nearly 2 years old i think. Small as a credit card.
I'd look into a canon

Here's a couple more with the canon sd1000. The picture quality isn't terrible or terrific. Just an example of a canon point in shoot. I paid a little over a hundred for it. Spend 200 on a good canon and you should be happy.

Get a used Nikon D100 DSLR. I just saw one go on craigslist for $150. I think it was Nikon's first DSLR and it's 6MP. At least if you get an old DSLR you can keep using the lenses and accessories if you decide to upgrade.

The new ipods that will be announced next week will have cameras. Just throwing that out there in case you're looking for something different.

thanks for the suggestions everyone
it is a point and shoot basically that i'm looking for, but with quality features. pretty much a balance between the sd1000 and the d40 you guys were showing pictures of, but i don't want to break the bank. i'll look into some of those

I have the Kodak HD Z812 15, with image stabilizer, Variogon 36mm-432mm (equivalent) AF 12X Opical zoom.. Has just about every setting you can imagine. It was little over 400.00. The pictures it takes are f'in amazing..

Well you should look into the canon point and shoots like the next model up from the SD1000.
It wasn't even the best camera when i bought it, so there are much better canons now.
