Mysterious Missile Lights Up Sky
At this point, the military is working only with video taken from the local news camera, and NORAD and Northcom apparently were not able to detect the contrail on their own.
If a test missile or an accidental missile was launched in the region it would have either come from Naval Air Station Point Mugu or Vandenberg Air Force Base. At sea it could have come from a U.S. submarine or a surface ship.
And it's not a UFO

Personally, I believe the airplane moving towards the camera theory.
Even if it WAS a missile test, why does the government have to tell anyone? Anyone can play dumb when the media calls. And the media is retarded for fueling conspiracy theories, because it just sends the public into an unnecessary frenzy.

that makes the most sense and to me that's what it looks like but what puzzles me is I thought they kept replays of the radar and on those it tracked planes and/or flight numbers by the transponder so if it was a plane wouldn't they just need to look at the radar replay and it'd tell them which plane it was?

did a few searches and came up with this info:
The video of the missile and its trail was shown to former NATO Ambassador Robert Ellsworth. He said that it appeared to be an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM), much like the ones which were launched into the Atlantic Ocean during the Cold War to intimidate the USSR.US President Barack Obama is currently on a high profile trip to Asia and Ellsworth speculated that this could be a show of force to hostile nations in that region.
Russian military expert Viktor Mizin told RT he agreed that it appeared to be an ICBM, perhaps launched from a submarine.

Oelrich said it could be a jet contrail because if "it's horizontal goes a long, long distance, almost to the horizon, (then) it looks vertical." But he also said that a plane would have had multiple separate contrails that do not seem to appear on the video.
To add to the mystery of what's on the videotape, the FAA said a radar replay of a large area west of Los Angeles did not reveal any fast moving unidentified targets in that area.

i agree with this EXCEPT if they can't tell me exactly what aircraft made that then there is something really wrong with our national security! with all the money we spend on radar and all the rest of that type of shit why can't they tell me exactly what aircraft that is? i just find that part really strange.

News anchors have what, a journalism/communications degree at best? I'm not surprised they can't identify it, and I'm not worried that they can't either.
Military don't gotta tell us peons shit.
Best to keep that sort of thing on the train I imagine.

I like how all of you assume the government (FAA has control of the commercial radar grid, and NORAD has control of the government radar grid) needs to tell anyone anything.
About the multiple contrail thing, every plane you see in the air has multiple engines, but how many do you see with multiple contrails a fair distance behind them. Usually they merge almost immediately after the jet.

Thank god I live in Iowa. Not really worried whatever the hell it was. I'll just wait to the first one explodes somewhere of importance and then we can figure out what it was and who launched it. Sorry coastal people, but your sacrifice will be remembered.
