There is a lot of stuff that I do not understand in this world. I enjoy problem solving and exercising my neural synapses when a mystery confronts me. It bothers me not to be able to understand an issue, or why something works a certain way. Sometimes I succeed in garning an understanding of why something is what it is. Other times I fail, and despite my best efforts the meaning escapes me. These things that I ponder and try to decipher the deeper meaning of vary greatly and are often based upon my day to day experiences. The mystery I am pondering this evening is one that has troubled me in the past... it was actually years ago when I first encountered it. Why does my two year old bucket of joint compound smell like Spaz took a dump in it after a night of drinking cheap beer?

I would say the reason is that of a chemical reaction

It is apparently a mold growth that causes the smell. Turns it to a watery dark gray color and just stinks like hell. I still used it as I am only patching some small nail holes and a little bit of damage caused by the kids.

Makes sense. I wouldn't use it if mold has been growing on it. I'd just throw it out and buy new

For the little bit I have to do, it should be fine. Already have the second coat on.

Handle on the outside closes and latch's the bus door. Some have a auto closer under a latch like a gas hatch.
Put your compound in a glass container and not plastic and it will not stink. The issue there is the compund interacts with the plastic and forms a slightly acidic liquid that stinks to all hell.
