    My truck is broke.

I'm going ballistic right now. I went outside about 10 min. ago and was getting ready to head out to the mall. I take the burb of course. I start her up and all i see is this nasty blue smoke and the speedometer is stuck at 20mph. So i'm like oh shit i need to replace some shit. Spark plugs is one thing injectors is another thing that needs to be replaced, and i think i need an oil change maybe a PCV valve??

I'm just gonna let her sit until i get it in the shop on monday. Looks like i won't be modding anything on it anytime soon fuck this is gonna be expensive. I'm trying to figure out why my speedo is stuck at 20? Do you guys know? I know it's gotta be something electrical.

Help me out i don't want my burb to be ruined.

Typically, newer vehicles use a VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) which electronically transmits information to the BCM ( body control module) or ECM ( Forget which one) anyhow... It's a data stream instead of a speedometer cable.. So it's easily possible for one of the components to fail and cause the "stuck at 20 mph" issue. Blue smoke is typically burning engine oil.. Black is unburnt fuel... white is water/antifreeze..
Could be several issues that cause that... hard to give an accurate diagnosis without looking at the vehicle..Unless you have competent diagnostic skills and equipment.. You could toss alot of parts at it an not fix the issues.. Spending a 100 bucks at a good repair shop to have them shake it down, quite possibly could save you money in the long run.

Plus he may just need a suburban to lug around his fat ass May be valve seals and they have been getting worse without you noticing

Yea i fixed the speedo about 20 min. ago. I just went out and reset the battery and it dropped down to zero then i took it for a ride around the block and the speedo works fine again.

It still is running really sluggish it's gotta go into the shop i'm gonna take it up to ourisman on monday. I'm not moving it until it's completley tuned again. I can't afford piston slap and gunk build-up.

No i'm pretty sure it's not the valve seals just needs some spark plugs, oil change, and injectors. She should be running like new again after that.

None of that has anything to do with oil burning. But you might try a new pcv... Why injectors? Try some redline sl1, the amsoil fuel cleaner, or gumout regane if you're worried about injector build up.

Yep, we do a few of them here for similar issues.. But I am always reluctant to diagnose an issue without looking at the car. It always seems to come back and bite me square on the arse..
Guess I could have worded that better in my initial post.. was merely trying to inform him that it was most likely an electrical issue in nature.. NOT that his VSS was bad..

    My fault...

Yea, I don't think the injectors are the problem. I think you would notice it was running funny for a long ass time, instead of going out there and running like shit out of the blue. Well I would think.

PS: Since the advice of one of the forum members, I get gas only from Chevron or Mobil. Use to get it from BP or Mobil. Also once or twice a month, put in some Lucas Fuel treatment.

Welp, if the spark plugs are factory, as well as the O2s, that should explain the smoke.

Umm, I have to ask, How would bad spark plugs and fouled O2's create blue smoke...A rich condition, or unburnt fuel should be black in nature no ? Blue smoke, visibly blue tinged is burning oil isn't it ?
Not trying lay down smack or anything, that's just my understanding of the nature of things....Neither of those failures should cause a vehicle to produce blue smoke ?

Head Gasket, Valve Seals, PCV system issues etc? On my 01 SS I had a TON of pcv blow by and it would puddle in my intake and get sucked in every so often...
    Just curious..

^ +1, that's what I said. Pcv first, then valve seals. If it's rings, that's an oppurtune time for a 6.0 swap

I thought blue smoke was fouled plugs. Bad/worn valve seals? A few years ago a coworker of mine had a Formie and it blew blue smoke. He told me that he either needed a tune up or the valve seals were worn.
