Is a Muzzle Brake Worth The Money?
http://www.ruger-mini-14-firearms.co...gton_7400.html
Seems like its well over $200 shipped and installed.
My 30-06 model 7400's kick is tolerable, and I never rapid fire with it anyway.
Also would one of these make it immensely loud?
They are cool looking though. And I guess less muzzle jump and less kick would be nice.
But I just don't think I can justify the cost of getting one installed.
Any input?

No, sir, I don't like it.
Not worth dropping the cash imo. Cope with the recoil Sally (j/k)

You should see a 30% reduction in recoil. You will see a dramatic increase in noise!

But so why would I really want that?
Louder certainly isn't better.
And the recoil isn't bad at all.
Is this just for like competition or women?
I have to admit though I love how some of them look!

No doubt they look cool. Most of the people I know use them to soften the recoil on large caliber rifles. I've seen them used for hunting for a quick follow up shot.

I own an ar50 with a muzzle break on it, they are good for large caliber rifles but why spend a fortune on one when you can use that money towards ammo or a down a new rifle or handgun. Also the muzzle breaks on the ar50 are very efficient in breaking down the recoil also the weight of the rifle helps but the noise is something else. Sometimes when I fire either 750 or 850gr. rounds it feels like a concussion grenade going off over you head. But in my opinion I own a 30-06 and a 300 win mag. it's not worth the money spend it elsewhere.

For larger Magnums and the .50 BMG yes, muzzle brakes are pretty damn important. I wouldn't waste my time with a .30-06, you'll just get more muzzle flash and noise along with a 30% reduction in recoil you probably wouldn't notice in a gun that barely recoils anyway. I know my bolt action .30-06 is pretty damn gentle, your 7400 should be even smoother.

Looks like you had fun! I need to get another stock for my Mini 14. I wouldn't take it as it's dressed now.
