it is a car vs car, not year/model vs year/model

I had a '67 GTO hardtop for 6 years, it was awesome with the non original 428 Pontiac engine. But the best it ever ran was a 13.5x @ 104.x at the track. Also, it got 10 MPG city/11 highway, but that was when gas was less than $1 per gallon in the late 90s. My opinion is that car I like better than the F-body, but I did have '67 400 4-spd Firebird for 11 years. I got more compliments on the GTO, and more people leaving messages on the windshield saying "if you want to sell this car call me..." so maybe that opinionates me. But, the Firebird handles better. So, for me it is a draw, depending on what you want to do with your car.

I liked Both! The mid 60s GTO's where so damn nice!
But the F/B and T/A's are awesome too.

I've had 2, 66 GTO's & a 65 GTO. liked the GTO, but getting bored with it, going to sell it or try & trade it on a 77-78 Black T-Top SE T/A. The 73-74's are nice, but way to expensive to really consider. If you want performance the LT1 & LS1 cars are the way to go. I just want something that looks different & pleasure to drive, hard to beat a 70's T/A for that.
My 66 GTO is a 389 Tri-Power Ram Air 4 Speed with a Royal Bobcat kit on it, very quick car.

Yes, very quick, but how quick? Quarter mile times ever? And about something different, I like the 70-72 TA's with the white stripe. Also, any of the 70s cars with shaker hoods. Awesome to see it torque when you put the pedal to the metal! Need some chains to hold that Pontiac torque in the doghouse right off idle.

Right there with you on the 70-72 T/A Great looking cars, really like the early Formula birds too, thought the dual snorkle hood was great looking.
I never ran my 66 Tri-Power down the track, but I'd guess it at low 14's to mid/high 13's, it's awesome below 50 mph, but I would suspect the smaller valve heads to hurt it a bit after the 1/8th mile. Still a blast to drive around town. It will turn circles around my 69 SS396.

the GTO's look more up to date IMO than the fbods. Let's not forget, 2002 was 5 years ago, and most changes were in '98 and prior to that, the geo storm headlights....... Granted I miss driving both my lt1 and ls1, but I guess I've just come to appreciate many different automobiles as opposed to just the fbod. I used to think Fbods was Gods chariot. I know I'll get flammed for my comments here. The more I look at 4th gen, the more appealing the Holden/GTO looks along with up to date cars.

GTO over the aging 4th gen anyday.
