Are the msd wires worth the extra cash for high performance v8's

    Are they the best/worth it?

yes sir, if you want a long lasting wire for a modified car they are worth it for the fact that they have very low resistance. i use the msd wires on my mustang. i suppose on a stock ls1 though with the coil on plug ignition stock wires would be ok if you dont wanna spend the money. But if you plan on modding and you wanna buy a nice quality wire that you dont have to get rid of for a long time, msd is a damn fine piece. i was really impressed with the construction and durability of my superconductor wires.

Ok cool thanks for the info that's what I had heard, anyway for the 4.6 do you recommend the msd coil packs also or should the stock ones be okay.

on a stock 4.6 the stock coil packs are real good. those coils are pretty high quality. inotherwords, if you were to put msd coils on a stock 4.6 would it go faster? nope. use them when u have a modified engine and u dont want the car missing and u want a nice complete burn and u want them to last longer.

New wires are usually better than old wires. One of the usual benefits of the more expensive wires is higher resistance to heat.

The temps under my hood are quite high and I will fry the MSD wires... I buy special extreme heat wires for my car and change them out at the beginning of every season.

As far as MSD ignition stuff, it is great. However if you do not "need" the quality it will not provide any measurable performance increase.

^ I guess the resistence of a wire means nothing?

The coil on plugs set-up the LS1 has basicly makes any wire work the same.
Very high performance cars might see a touch of difference.

They do make difference when there is much more distance to cover.

when you buy low resistance high performance wires its not because you are looking for increased dyno numbers. you want a stronger spark for a more complete burn, less chance of misfires, and the wires to last longer. are they absolutely necessary on ls1's? nah probably not. This is because of the individual coil design and short wire length. but on something with actual ignition wires and a distributor, the engine can run a lot better. I dont believe most people understand that stock wires have very high resistance per foot vs the aftermarket stuff that can have less then 50 ohms resistance. working on cars for a living i've seen plenty of cars that have ran really crappy because they used really shitty carbon suppression wires that have super high resistance. the engines ran like shit. put quality wires on and the car runs good again. you dont have to buy msd stuff, jus get good quality stuff.

The wires on the vic are very long, So it seems to help. The wires on my 99F150 are even longer. But I used factory replacement and they work great aswell, they almost cost as much as the MSD's did

Thats why I bought MSD's because I needed replacements and they are probably less then the stockers.
