    Moving over Import to Domestic

Whats up everybody I have been on the forums for a long time, back in the day I wanted a LS1 or at least a fast domestic but being young and getting hit by two people and insurance costs stopped me.

So Im finally 23 and ready to move over to your side right now I have a GSR Integra built with a turbonetic's kit with all supporting mods but why spend thousands more to make it fast when I can spend half as much and Just get a V8 right ???

Well I found A 30th Anniversary SS Camaro. With A Custom installed Powerdyne Super Charger all the SS options 6 speed transmission, Hurst shifter. Twin-on-the-left stainless steel exhaust. New brakes this year and T-Tops& Leather with 56,000 miles and mint for 12,500

Only problem is I drive alot (25 miles to work)plus school and with gas so high and having to run 91 plus I feel like I will go broke. What do guys feel like my mpg will end up at I know a stock LS1 gets about 17-25 so they say. But I could always just get a cheap little civic for a work car and leave this one as a sumer car too.

Just asking for some thoughts and how does the price sound with the car ???
Im a newbie to V8's and you guys know your shi* so I figured I would start here.

    Thanks

Do not get it. You are buying someone else work/problem. Never buy a car with that many mods. Go get you a stock one and build it up that way YOU know what you have done and what is ready to break. Let that pass dude.

ok, WTF is a powerdyne? i can't find any HP gains from it even on the powerdyne website. It probably isn't worth squat since he's under selling a 35th SS by about 4grand...the seller prolly realized that.

Welcome to american muscle. Do youself a favor, buy a lightly modded ls1. If you're worried about gas-shoot for an M6. There are some quick tricks such as pulleys/exhaust/air filters you can swap to get even better gas milage [that goes the same for automatics]. If you buy a lightly modded one-it gives you an opportunity to learn more about the car by modifying it yourself.

I suggest going with a 2000+ model. Lower milage = higher value. anywhere from 11-16k is acceptable. some higher milaged cars can be 8-11k.

30th or 35th? 30th was a lt1...different motor. just get yourself a stock 01-02 ls1. I get about 26 mpg witha mix of highway and city drive..and a few full throttle runs per tank.

if you're worried at all about gas prices, I'd pass on an LS1, even an M6 (I have one.) Gas is only going to go up, in my humble opinion...
I only get about 12-13 mpg around town, I cant help myself I love to drive it like it was meant to be driven.
I'd also pass on that one you're looking at. If you can afford the gas, get an LS1 and mod it yourself.

Pass on that 30th, a buddy just bought a mildly modded one and in my opinion he's real close to having some major problems. Definitely shoot for a 2000+ ls1.

dipherent-a powerdyne is a super charger and gives hella hp gains
