"Most collectible cars of the future"
http://www.cnbc.com/id/40766423
What kinda yuppie fuck is this? I thought that one of the prerequisites of a car being collectible is for it to actually be accessible to the masses? Not the top 10%?

I'm not knocking the exotics or anything but when you use the word "collectible" (in the U.S.) the 1st thing that comes to mind are American cars. Cars that were at one time accessible to the majority. It's like having a diamond "collection" vs. a baseball card collection IMHO.

black 01 red 73- 01 z28 and 73 z28
of course they'll be collectible most of them are 500,000 plus dollars . a pretty hefty investment to start with . take a 500,000 dollar car and say it devalues 80 percent , thats still 100,000 dollars . the muscle car phenomena is about 5000 dollar cars (when new ) increasing in value in some cases 1000%

Did you see the production numbers? Exclusivity makes it collectible.
That's not so different than 60s era "collectable" muscle cars.
Hemi Cudas, SCJ Mustangs, COPO Camaros and Novas, Thunderbolt Fairlanes are true collectables and bring huge dollars because there just wasn't very many made.
Nice muscle cars are a novelty and will bring significant dollars simply because of the wow factor. But that doesn't make them collectable.
I laugh at folks who post up the "uber-rare" 4th gen. Uber-rare as in color combination ... gimme a break.Last edited by mitchntx; 01-02-2011 at 06:05 PM.

sold: 1999 firebird- 1998 Trans Am
I dont have a single problem with that list honestly... other than that the word 'collectable' just doesn't belong there,

They fucked up the title causing all this confusion.
They should have the title read " Most Expensive Cars to Collect"
I guarantee you as far as " Most Collectible Cars" goes....it is far and away American Muscle if you utilize how many are bought and sold after 20 years of manufactured date.

Silver- 1998 Camaro Z28 A4
^^ i totally agree about the popularity of american muscle cars. but the whole collecting thing is a different subject. if you collect cars, you have to have more than one for a start. and generally, collections are measured by either a high level of thematic completion (like having a corvette of each model year), or the exclusivity of the single objects of the collection. the cars in that top 10 list fit in the 2nd category. few made and exclusive from the start.
