+1... i can't count on another person being honest enough or even taking the time to track down who it belongs to... so i'd keep it...

I remember as a kid coming out of a wal-mart with my parents and there was money on the ground. We started picking it up and this stuff was everywhere. After we got done picking it all up it ended up being ~$500. My parents ran ads in the local papers for a month trying to get someone to claim it. No one ever did so we kept it.
$30k is a ton of cash to just find. I'd love to say that I'd just keep my mouth shut and keep it but realistically I'd probably make an effort to find the owner because if I didn't it would probably bother me. I don't know, someone come lose $30k and let me find it and we'll see how I'd react.

Oh man.. I'd keep it for sure! Seeing as 30k laying around was probably drug money and that would be open game. >=P I'd deposit part of the money in bank #1 in KY, some in bank #2 in FL, stash some in my safe at home, hide some more in another safe at a location I can trust, and quickly spend another chunk of it - that way it's nice and spread out; might even loan some of it out to some friends and family to pay back at a later date so it's harder to find.

I'd definitely keep it, and I'd get away with it too.

I'd probably make a half-assed effort to find who it belonged to. If they were trying incredibly hard to find it, I'm sure they would be able to find me from that.

    If not... I'd keep it.

It'd be a hard decision though.

it depends on where i found it.... on the street or in the woods or somthing its fair game of course. moral or not . its ethier ur money or someone elses. might as well keep it, because after all... its ur lucky day. but if u find it on the floor in the bank.. not urs.. lol. my point is that its not up to u to try to find an owner. if some one finds u out and can prove u have the money they lost.. id take it to court depending on how long ago u found it.

i always give back money that i find. im a strong believer in carma and when you drag money into it, just makes carma come back full circle. someone left or lost that money. what if it was you, wouldnt you want your money back? i treat people the way i would expect to get treated. that is all.

30k is to much just to "misplace".. Didn't the people go through the clothes before they turned them in? Hell I check my clothes before I put them in the laundry hamper.. I'd say it was some kind of gift from Jeebis or something crazy.. Maybe the lady thought her family didn't deserve the money or had already left them enough.

With that said.. I'd keep the money, no questions.. Its their own damn fault for leaving it in there.

i would have kept it. people pass on picking up pennies laying on the ground, but i dont. other people's loss = my gain. they had their chance, they chose to pass on the opportunity presented to them...

i found a $100 dollar bill on the ground in the grocery store i worked at back in HS, i picked it up and kept it. if people are irresponsible/fail to secure their money, i dont feel they should be tracked down and given a second chance...
