The Moore OK Tornado -- Pic Heavy
The devestation is beyond imaginable for some of you. I have friends in the hospital and numerous friends/family that are now homeless today. I walked down into the destruction yesterday to help, but as I am not a resident of Moore, I got chased out. I got one picture of the the damage before my phone died. The rest of these pictures are of the tornado as it develops and it the stages it took as it formed.
We at work watched this thing form and move straight North for about 45 minutes, finally when it made its final descent to the ground, it moved North less than a quarter mile from my work then it got huge!! and turned and moved straight East.....it crossed Interstate 44 from there and right into Moore. I am sure everyone is seeing the damage all over the news. This tornado took almost the same path as the May 3, 1999 tornado. The difference this time was yesterday's tornado moved across the landscape very very slowly and caused much more damage.
These pictures are in order for the most part. I have very scary video also, but I can't get it to upload at the moment and they are over 3 minutes long.

This picture is where its finally full blown tornado, EF4, mile wide. I just wish I could describe the sound this makes coming through.
And this USE to be my friend Adam's house....only pic of the damage I could get before my phone died.Last edited by jrbonds; 05-21-2013 at 11:23 AM.

Thank you for sharing, Jodi.
I can't even imagine the devastation. I'm glad you're ok!

Jodi, did they send you away even though you were there to help look for survivors that may be trapped just because you weren't a resident?

Eh kind of. I wasn't a resident, or spouse, or emt, police office, national guard or anything like that. They felt like I had no business down there and/or the whole looter crap. May 3,99 had massive looting problems.

I guess I can understand protecting against looters. It's really too bad we even have to worry about such things. But, we do.

wow, incredible photos (and good quality)... notice the definitive wall cloud structure that formed before the tornado... wall cloud w/ large scale rotation and/or rapid vertical movement is a key indicator that a tornado might form....

I've chased storms for years now and I have never seen one move/set nearly stationary upon first touch down then decide to move a few miles then slow down, build up even stronger then move on. I watched it come towards my location in Northern Moore then shift track east to the lake and dissipate. We took on minor roof damage but nothing like the direct path victim. Like "jrbonds" we've got friends and co-workers now homeless and injured but alive!

First off, glad you're ok jr. Extremely sad that there are so many that arent ok though
Scary stuff and thanks for sharing the pics. I'd like to see the video if you can upload it.
Impressive video above. Was that a manhole cover @ 37 seconds? And where was this guy filming from? A storm shelter, the sewer, or just inside his house. Fine line between stupid and ballsy there.Last edited by 5.0THIS; 05-22-2013 at 01:29 AM.

Holy hell... that's scary. I saw one when I was younger but it was a Michigan tornado and not that impressive.
