Moles in the yard
Last fall, I got some moles in my yard, doesn't help that my back yard is a park.
I had a very nice lawn and I want to make sure these bastards are gone once and for all.
Poison pellets didn't work, stomping down all their holes every day doesn't work, flooding em didn't work, traps with spikes didn't work, somehow they'd set it off and it doesn't get them, and now they don't even set it off at all.
So it's spring, and I want to make sure these bastards are gone, what works? I've searched and searched online and I can't seem to find anything that works from real people, just sales gimmicks.
Is there a better trap out there perhaps?

Moles suck!!!...We had some tearing up our landscaping @ work and we did the smoke bombs (didnt work!!) We didnt really wanna do traps or snakes for fear the neighborhood kids that lived around the business would get injured and didnt need a lawsuit....so the moles won!!!......It took a while for them to move to the adjacent business owners property...ha ha...

Get a cat.
Seriously. My mom used to half all sorts of problems with mice, rabbits, gophers, and moles because she kept a vegetable garden in the back yard (bordered some woods), and all sorts of rodents would tunnel under the fence and eat/destroy everything. Then she started letting her cat outside. Only trouble she had after that was the cat occasionally bringing headless bunnies to the door as "presents".

Idk if it would stay in the yard though. I mean it's fenced in, but I'm sure the thing would find a way out. No way in the hell I would let a cat inside.

If you feed the cat, give it a warm bed in the garage, and there's plenty of moles and such to catch, it'll stay. Especially if you go out and play with it on a daily basis. Might wander off for a day or two at a time if you've got land to roam. Biggest issue with an outdoor cat is mean neighbors. Crazy old man in the neighborhood poisoned my grandma's cat years ago cause he believed cats were demons walking the earth.
Wouldn't trade my cat for anything. He hangs out in the garage, plays with people like a puppy, catches and kills anything rabbit sized or smaller on our property, and even attacked and chased off my neighbor's german shepherd (abused dog he rescued - hates people except for him) when it came after my dad at the mailbox once.

I am allergic to cats so I've always hated them. Not their fault, I know

If it comes down to it, I'll get the damn cat, but it probably has to have $200 dollars worth of shots for the city's laws. Spayed etc.
I currently pressed down all the holes. I set one trap, got 4 more ready to set when I find the main run again. I also have grub killer ready, apparently that's their main food source and the eggs get laid in the summer.

A couple of years back I had moles in my yard. My plan of attack was to go out every hour or so and check the trails and smash them down. Once I found the main trails I would go out with a book a lawn chair and a shovel and smash it down again. Then I'd just sit there and wait until I saw it move. Attck witht he shovel and then dig it up.
I got four of them this way keep up the grub-ex and now I don't see as many. I think they prefer my neighbors yards better these days and I only get exploratory tunnels from time to time and none of the primaries.
I'm sure it was quite entertaining to watch.

No, have never seen one yet, apparently they have very large families, it's more than one. The neighbor has dogs so they stay out of their yard, the other neighbor has no dogs, but not sure if he has the same problem or not. My friend has a .22 rifle silenced, we've fired it in town, so quiet. Might have to invite him over.

I'm going to invite some friends over and drink some beer and have a mole smashing party. I got 2 people in already, just waiting to see if the moles return since I pressed down all the holes/runs yesterday.
Hmm, would that kill the roots of the grass though? I'll try just about anything....
OMG....

My dad's friend had a ground hog build a home under his back porch. As time went on, more and more ground hogs came to live there.
They sat outside one day with their 22's and guess how many ground hogs they killed? 32.
I would finish the problem now before it turns into a mess like that.
