Mite need a waterpump for my 02 express 5.7 vortec
I could possiablley need a new water pump for my van.
I know the GM water temp gauges are not very accurate my 99 WS6 basicalley just stays at 200 the 12 O clock postion.
My 99 astro vans guage was unacurate it basicalley stays at 150 the 10 o clock position.
Now my 02 express is the same as the astro however lately needle moves from the 10 o clock position to the 210 12 o clock position for a few minutes then slowely goe’s back to the 10 o clock.
Yesterday I added 20 Ozs of water to the rad, cruised around about 40 miles, this morning the rad was full.
I plan to crawl under the express while it’s running to inspect the weep hole on water pump.
Just checked prices on AC delco WPs at rock auto the have one for $35 and another for $176.
I was planning a 650 mile trip to south FL mite be a good idea to at least have a replacement WP just in case.
What do you Guys think about all this?
Thanks

Not sure about the temp gauges in vans -- our F-body gauges are estimators at best. A laser temp gun is a great way to confirm actual temps. I use ours all the time when working on cooling systems and checking thermostats for accuracy.
