Most of the reason we are bankrupt is the fact that the average US citizen and company has had access to credit that was too cheap and gorged on it the last 20 years. Now is the time where all of that is going away (as it needs to) and a lot of people will be living a much lower lifestyle that in the past. Not like everyone can afford a 10,000 sq ft home, right?

So I work for a group of hospitals. The company publishes all the nice things we do to keep the thought alive that we're all great. We as the company are not just the IT department that I work for but the collection of many hospitals.

In charity and indignant care, unbilled services, etc... $256 million. That's great and really nice of us, but on the flip side of that. People that work for the company will end up losing their job. They've already told us that there are plans coming for that. Our payroll gets cut because we're providing $256 million in other care. I'm all about us doing the nice things for people - IF we can afford it (and of course it doesn't actuallycost the full amount because it's written off). When it starts costing jobs, that's when it's a problem.
