LOTR - worth anything?

Hey Guys,
I was helping my dad with a yard sale a few years back and stumbled across three paperback books for .50 apiece. He's had them boxed up for the past 35 yrs and I took them and have had them in a covered bookcase for the past three.

Does anyone know about books and whether these would be worth anything and if so, where should I look? I'm bad at reading copyright stuff, but looks like they were published in 1971.

Books are in ok condition with some scuffing and wear on the cover, but all internal pages are mint.

I guarantee you that they have substancial value. Check on ebay for similar items.

Well, I know they're only worth what someone would pay. And they definitly aren't first editions, so figured I'd check and see if anyone knew where I could check.

Ebay lists sales with pics but don't guarantee that the book in the picture is what you'll get for allot of the lotrs.

I'm kinda figuring they might be worth 25-50max.

I have those exact versions.

The covers have worn off, though. Printed just after I graduated from high school.

Not much premium value unless in pristine as printed condition.

Kinda like classic comic books.

yea i agree that the books have to be MINT, im a book nerd, and usually first editions of really old books written atleast 100 years back that are leather bound are the ones that are worth alot, and it would need to be a peice of real contemporary literature, I dont think they classify the lords of the rings as a modern peice that really has significant value....yet. they might so hold on to them, u never know.

Book nerd? Not as much as me. I have a personal library of ~400 books. Only 20% of them are hard back though. The oldest one is a copy of Darwins "On the Origin of Species" dated 1912.
