Looks or performance...
I own a TA. But cant make up my mind on which to do first. Start adding HP or making the car look good... wheels, drop kit, etc.

Focus on power with a little bit of asthetics. Small things like window tint, etc.

I'd rather have a fast sleeper that a sleek turd.

looks first are for ricers not real cars! more power you can never have enough. all cars look good when they are blowing the doors off of an other one

Ehh, I decided to go for looks first then power.... about 2000 more bucks into the paint and body work and another 600 for lowering springs and misc. repairs and I'll have spent about 5k total in looks.
Compare that to the amount I want to spend on everything else...
408 iron block - forged internals
Moser 12 bolt
AFR Heads
Procharger
Plenty of N20 to go around
Separate set of wheels and tires (slicks and skinnies)
...not to mention the 7-8k in misc parts that will be needed to support the major mods...
Just saying, I'm deciding to get the cheap stuff out of the way first.
It's kinda hard to call even a stock LS1 a "turd"

Pewter- 2001 Camaro Z28 M6
PLAN YOUR BUILD!!!!
looks will effect your performance
ground clearence issues
added wieght
etc.
however performance mods will only increase the looks... chasis suspension mods increase the look, etc.......
also for easy mods, polish things under the hood a/c, throttle body, etc....
also if you lose a race and the only thing is can say after is "well my car looks better". yeah thats gay!
I know if I did looks first I would be kicking myself in the ass for not having the power to back it, and everytime I lose a race I would feel I spend the money wrong.
I see many camaro and t/a with monster cowl/ram air hoods and stock power backing it up, to me that is wrong.

Sebring Silver- 98 Z-28 camaro
I've done both a little at a time as I save up money instead of focusing on one goal. Modding a car never ends anyway, there is always something you can do to it.

I don't think Trans Ams need much look wise and it's fun to trick people into thinking that your car is as stock as it looks.

i think the 408 will make the car "look" different as it's pulling away

i totally agree with that statement. i had a glasstek 4" cowl sitting in my garage for 2 weeks until i got my nitrous setup installed. i say a car needs to have some balls to backup a hood like that. i go more for looks since the LS1 is far from slow bone stock. tint and drop kit wont cost much over $300-400 and a decent nitrous setup another $500- that would be a damn good start IMO

Custom Slate Blue- 99 B4C
what good is power when it's sitting in your driveway or a parking lot though? You can look good everywhere you go, you can only show off power under the right circumstances. Don't get me wrong though power is nice, my riced out '99 isn't a slouch at the track
