looking at a new digital camera.....

anyone use a Fujifilm FinePix F50fd 12mp? I'm thinking about buying this camera and thought I'd check to see if any of you guys have one. Like it? Any other recommendations if not that one? It's $200 camera and seems like a decent deal at that price. I don't need a $500 camera, just something for some decent pics.

I'm not too familiar with Fujifilm camera's but I always use this resource when checking on digital cameras. I think it's a pretty reliable source.

thanks, very detailed review. I just can't decide if that's the one I want or not. I'll think on it a day or two and decide by then. $209 at newegg isn't a bad deal on that camera I don't think.

Do you really need 12 mp? Unless your taking pictures of scenery and going to blow them up real big you don't. Why don't you look for a 6-7 mp camera with a good optical zoom. Something in the 5-10x range. I have the Olympus fe-240. Got it for ~$120. I liked it so much, I bought one for my sister and one for my mom for christmas.

I have an olympus right now with 5.1mp's. It's an ok camera but doesn't take those super crisp pictures like the newer ones do. This camera is a b-day gift for my wife and I'll use our old one for car pics and pics when I'm hunting.

I use the old Olympus C-4040 Zoom 4.1 mp camera and I'm still pretty happy with it. It's biggest downside, however, is it only uses the old Smart Media cards which have a maximum storage capacity of 128mb. Quality of glass and optical zoom are the most important aspects of a camera.

Look at Canon. Fuji digitals suck. You aren't going to see the crisp quality you are looking for from a Fuji. You have no need for a 12 megapixel camera unless you want to be blowing up posters.

I just got a Nikon D40 recently... niiiice. Great low-cost, quality DSLR. You can pick one up for under $500.

ordered the canon just a few minutes ago. I love newegg. Now I want to get stuff to make my pc and laptop wireless. I don't really know jack shit about that stuff so I'll have to figure out what I need.
