    Lone Survivor

I'm surprised no one has started a thread on this yet, unless I'm behind the times as I haven't been able to be on here lately. Anyway- good movie, a couple of inaccuracies. If you haven't already, take a couple hours time and go see this film for those men. They deserve it.

Yeah there are...also the book he wrote seems to be inaccurate according to some sources. Some say the Afghan numbers were only squad sized and some say it was platoon sized but they all agree it wasn't two hundred. Either way, the SEALs made some bad decisions that cost them their lives.

I'd take the word of a SEAL over a movie critic any day and all the time. I also won't Monday Morning Quarterback their actions of that day. It's amazing that even one of them survived.

For those that have never served or been in combat, for those that did and are currently, they have to operate under R.O.E. Rules of Engagement. Sometimes they are flexible, most times they aren't. Almost all the time these ROE's are written by REMF's that never see the battlefield and think that the enemy operates under the same rules as we do.

He's all over in the movie.

What were the inaccuracies besides the size of the attacking force?

He was not almost beheaded, and he did not stab a Taliban member with a knife while in the village house. However.....there is this:

In the book, members of the Taliban enter Luttrell’s room and begin beating him. (“I didn’t give that much of a shit,” Luttrell writes. “I can suck this kind of crap up, like I’ve been trained. Anyway, they didn’t have a decent punch among them.”)
Lone Survivor accuracy: Fact vs. fiction in the Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg movie adaptation of Marcus Luttrell’s memoir.

I went and saw it last night. What a great movie...I dont think I have ever walked out of a movie that left literally everyone speechless. Nobody said a word when they left...

    Lone Survivor

last 2 that effect me like that was Blackhawk Down & the opening of Saving Private Ryan. Those both hit way too close to home.

I had an uncle that saw Apocalypse Now in theathers and had bad flash backs for 2 months. At the time didn't understand, now I totally can.

    Thx's for the warning.

I read the book when it came out and saw the movie last weekend. While I can understand with the ROE it always ends bad when a Special Ops team is compromised(Bravo Two Zero and a Green Beret A team in Desert Shield/Desert Storm)
