Life Sucks, maybe someone can help me

A few weeks ago I was driving along the road when a van was speeding besides me and then swerved into my lane hit my side mirror and kinda scraped the rear fender. Damage wasnt bad I just need some paint and side mirror. It was near my house and neither of us stopped on the spot so i went home and reports it. She ended up doing the same thing and looks like they want to charge the hit and run charge on me because I went home and she claimed to of stopped on the spot.

Basicly if I dont have this dropped or reduced its going to give me 6 points and I already have 2. Insurance will be a bitch and I am not going to drive no more. Any advice? or help to get it dropped.

Well they didnt stop either and it was right by my house. I didnt think it would be a big deal, I still reported it so I dont understand why they say I hit and run when I wasnt even the one hitting. They hit me

It doesn't matter who hit who. It's the law. If another car touches yours: STOP!

Yea I know that now. I just cant belive this can ruin my driving career for the next few years. This is another reason why I hate how this system works.

Hit and run means leaving the scene of an accident, regardless of who caused it.

They're probably charging you because a teenager in a sports car makes a hell of a better example than some woman in a van.

It has to work like that because in theory, a cop is supposed to come out and "investigate" what happened.

When i was 16 i drove my truck into a ditch on a foggy night on a back road. No one was around and i didn't have a cellphone. I caught a ride with a chick i knew that just happened to be driving by. While i was two miles up the road talking to my dad on her house phone the cops saw my truck. When i got back they were threatening to write me up with leaving the scene of an accident. luckily my dad talked the cop out of it, but the cops take that shit seriously. When you get into an accident stay where it happened.

if it was close by your house as you say were there any of your neighbors out and about that saw it happen...any witnesses at all that you could find to corroborate your story.

No witnesses, it wasnt in me neighborhood, it was maybe a 1/4 mile away from the neighborhood and it was getting off of a bridge as well

i guess if ya get desperate go over to that neighborhood and see if anyone saw it.

a bridge you say...this is where a lawyer is a good option. i'm not sure but since you are in myrtle beach i see i'm assuming that this is a good sized bridge with a good amount of traffic. if that's the case check and see if that bridge has a camera watching it and recording on it. if it does see if you can get the tape released for the time that the incident occurred and see if the accident is on the tape.

I just don't get how you didn't stop or chase the person down? I mean come on man, your car looks great! I would be pissed!

Well all the info is already taken and shit we have each others plate numbers. That isnt the problem its just that they wanting to say i was in hit and run and they want to give me 6 points, 6 points will kill me for sure and I would have to end up buying a POS car so i just rather not drive at all.

So my guess is that she reported it first?

They can not prove anything! At the most it will be 50/50
