Let's not sell out

Just a word of advice, over some time the company http://www.verticalscope.com/ has bought out a lot of forums on the internet. So far 16 from what I could count.
They bought out R6-Forum.Com and yesterday they did the same to R6Messagenet.com - two other sites I was visiting. The very first day a bunch of ads showed up on the forum, one was linking to p0rn. That of course made a lot of people angry and now they are leaving to build a new home for them.
So let's not sell this one out, that would suck.
at the bottom of this screen you can see all the forums they own.

today morning, after users came out with a proposition that everybody deletes their own "how to's" and technical posts before leaving the board, the new management turned out editing the posts

Not saying you didnt have issue there. Tech got bought out and it actually helped alot.. Few more adds yes. But the search enige over there rocks now as do other sections. Board hasnt been slow in a long time.

one of other issues is that the board was founded by a rider, for the riders, when he no longer could give it enough attention, he chose 2 guys to run it. He gave them the board cause he trusted them. Now they sold it. And figures around $250K-$300K are talked about.

back in the internet boom, brad the owner here was offered a million plus and didnt sell it.
personally i think he was nuts not to.
if i owned ls1.com and somebody offered 300k today, it would be under new ownership real soon.

I never realized that the lil bit of advertising on here yields that much money, that someone else would wanna spend that kind of money though. Were not talking about a couple grand here. Nhraformula said 1,000,000 plus! Thats crazy. I'm assuming it costs x amount of dollars to start and run a forum. I have no idea what the number is, but for the sake of argument lets say its anywhere from a couple hundred bucks, to a few grand. Lets say you run/own said forum for 5 yrs, and then sell it for a million plus, thats a HUGE return on your investment. More of a profit then buying and selling a house is for some people!

to get a forum up and running its 4-5k.

brad makes a decent buck here on advertising.
he doesnt have the amount of sponsors like he used to have though

its not just a name, it has alot to do with how many members and page views

It doesn't matter what the name is. It's all about advertising. You could name a website picturesofjizz.com; as long as it has 100,000 views a month, people will pay to advertise on it.

i ddint know what exactly we were talkin about. whether it was just selling the url for someone else's use since iits a good sounding name or selling out the whole site itself..... but i got it.

Not sure why as he has distanced himself from this site to the point where no one knows who he is...
