Latest Dubai photos....palm tree island homes...
I will let the pictures do the talking, as most of you know by now that a shit load of our petroleum expenses feed Dubai directly....to those who have already seen these photos, shut up, I haven't.

Each and every one of those 'branches' has been man-made, dredging is the term for what they are doing, throwing in dirt and sand into the ocean until it rises above sea level. Find Dubai on Google Maps or Earth, you can see the islands from space, there are at least 3 now.

So, are they building a new city?
Is it like super expensive housing?
Do the long rows of houses have anything to do with the extremely tall buildlings?
I've just never seen anything like that before.. that's insane!

anyone else notice how useless that oceanfront property is for swimming, especially for kids....that man-made land drops like a cliff into those waters....I would be afraid of what's lurking below, tiger sharks are very common in that area, and are quite a bit more aggressive than great whites. Now for boats and yachts, different story

Dubai has been around for a while. It is the capital? of the UAE, United Arab Emerites (sp?), which is where the big arab oil companies go for a good time, and to break every record in the books for just about anything...fastest growing city in the world. Do some research on Wikipedia or equivelant, you will see many, many things about Dubai.

Lol yeah, no kidding. I would not be able to do that.. I'm not a big fan of heights.. don't mind some, but that is absolutely crazy. And the wind has to be pretty strong that high up.. No interference or anything blocking the wind.
Not to mention the air would start to get pretty thin that high, no?

so once it's erected and people are in it, should we ram a b52 into the side for shits n' giggles? like "ohhhh ho! got ya back, buddy! heh heh..."Last edited by third_shift|studios; 06-25-2008 at 10:55 AM.

Oh yeah, you're probably right. Yeah.. I hope they're getting paid some good money to be up there! But I would imagine they have to stay up there for days or weeks at a time...
There's no way they are climbing a ladder a mile high up and down every morning / night. A mile high lift or something - sounds kind of unlikely.
I think they make them stay up there! What are they gonna do if they don't like it? Climb down?
