    Question Laparoscopic Surgery

Going for a consultation Tomorrow at 2:30. I am nervous as Hell. Has anyone had that surgery done on them before?

    Thanks.

    Cool Galebladder removal

I had to have my galebladder removed that way. It was quick, but I ended up being in bed for over a week after it was done. Now I just have 4 small scars and all is good.

In the last 4 years I had Abdominal pain in my Right Lower Quadrant. The Pain comes and goes once in a while. I had numerous Cat Scans and Ultrasound ruling out Appendicitis and Gallbladder/Stone. There were 4 different occasions that the pain was too excruciating and I needed medical Help. I had Colonoscopy done and Upper GI series. EVERYTHING was NEGATIVE. One thing my Cat Scan showed was that my Lymph nodes in my stomach were enlarged or inflated. Cause of it is unknown.

2 weeks ago I was Hospitalized for 5 Days because of the Pain. I was given Dilaudid for my pain. I had a very strong effect on me that when I was off of it on the 4th day, I was still thinking I was in the Hospital the 2nd day....pretty much I was passed in and out for 2 days.

As of now the Pain is gone and I know it will come back. If I push down on my side it hurts like a bitch. So my Primary MD and my GI MD are sending me to have this surgery.

I had this type of surgery when I had appendicitis, and when they did that sugery, they found a mild hernia as well...........I guess I'll be going in again in the next few months.

All-in-all, the surgery went well. I was a little sore, but the scars are small.

that's why i have waited. doc said 5- 8 months recovery and then it still may not be a full recovery. worst part was getting the injecting in the shoulder. the needle goes in between the two plates. then the gren die. the the cat scan. i'm a big guy that cat scan was scary for me i was in there so tight. and only about 5 inches from the cieling/ top of the cat scan.

i can throw about 20 throws then it hurts so bad. i used to play left field and go gunning for people at second and third. sometimes home but usually not worth it.

sad part is i think i through it out one night after work tring to throw a snowball on k marts roof for 100 plus feet away. thought i could do it and got close. next day i was like oh hey this doesn't feel good.

Nope, never had any type of surgery (knock on wood). Hope everything goes great, and for a speedy recovery.

just came back. No date yet, but it should be around end of June. He also said that he will take out the appendix while he is at it.

    Let the nail biting begin.

UHHHH, If you not having problems with your appendix then why remove it. Thats seems a little strange, and not right. Its one thing to take it out if its done but your appendix does serve a purpose. To absorb infection that could kill you. I would tell them to leave it in or find a different doctor, thats just me personally and my .02

I had mine taken out and they also took out my appendix.

It wasn't that bad, but try not to laugh when your recovering! It hurts like a bitch, haha.
And you don't really need your appendix, and my doctor said most of the time when your gaulbladder is like that your appendix might start causing problems.

So they don't know for sure it's your gallbladder but they're going to remove it anyway? Isn't that kinda like shotgun troubleshooting

Thats exactly what I was thinking with the appendix. Its not the most important thing in your body but it does something useful.

The surgery is quite simple. It's almost like playing a video game. First your abdomen is pumped full of air. If you have a virgin abdomen, a med student can and I assure has done this surgery. It's far more frustrating to put on a driver side header than it is to do a gallbladder surgery.

P.S. after the surgery you might want to open a window.

I had this surgery done for reasons other reasons and the surgery itself is not all that bad. They fill you up with gas to perform the surgery and after surgery they can't get it all out so it gets trapped inside and can be pretty painful. The only way I was not in pain from the gas was to lay flat. The incisions are relatively small and heal pretty quick but from them performing the surgery I was pretty sore for a few days but the drugs you get are great lol. The worst part for me was the pain from the gas they fill you up with. I hope everything goes well and you have a quick recovery. These procedures are performed so much that you should have nothing to worry about.
