    Arrow Know anything about Boats?

Looked at a Sea Doo boat tonight and the price is decent although the things that concern me are how much would it cost to reupolster the seats? seats are starting to crack around seems from sitting in the sun. Not too bad yet, but would need to be done in about a year or two. 2nd item of more concern would be the boat looks like it may have been tapped into the dock (or something) a few times. The fiberglass on the outside (about dock height if floating) has what could best be described as spider web type cracking. if you run a fingernail along the cracks you could feel them. pulled the bins on the inside to check the other side of the fiberglass in the same area and no signs of damage. So any ideas on this one? run like hell or nothing to worry about?

doesnt sound too bad... just get someone that knows how to work with fiberglass to sand it down and put another coat on it....

I'd be more concerned about the motor.

I dont wanna tell ya...cuz I dont know how bad it really is...

About 4 months ago, I was fishing....and somehow I forgot to winch up the anchor completely up...so it stayed a good 5 feet underwater...When I punched the gas a couple seconds later I heard a loud ass Thump on my hull...When I got home, it had that same spiderweb crack you\'re talking about..and part of it was slightly chipped. But it wasnt a big deal at all...so I just sanded it and did some work on it. Good as new.

It just depends how deep it is.

not very deep at all. just cracked in a couple spots. you can examine the damaged area from the inside of the boat and there is zero signs of damage.

IMHO, In this Economy Boats are wothless. I have owened a Big pleasure boat.....Took a loss on it and (you always will). and you have to winterize them, ALOT of Maint. and Up keep.....but In your case, it doesn't sound that bad, however take a look @ the motor, I reapolstered my seats before I sold it.....don't remember what it costed, wasn't too uch....thats been yrs ago... Hope it helps

Speaking of which, on the drive to the lake yesterday, all the houses on the roads in the 10 miles leading up to the marina, it seemed like every fourth house had a boat with a "for sale" sign on it; and then half the boats I saw on the lake had "for sale" signs as well.

P.S. to the OP, keep in mind 87 octane costs a lot more at the dock than it does your regular gas station.

This is what I was told by boaters when I was looking into one a few years ago.

Also, BOAT stands for Break Out Another Thousand
